Situated in Napa County, and named after a Russian princess, Mt. St. Helena (left) is a reminder of 19th Century Russian colonial presence in Northern California. The long range to the right is The Pallisades. The hike begins at the top of the Palisades and ascends fairly gradually about 2,000 ft.

I more timidly observe the Geysers area and the Sonoma Valley and Costal Range beyond.

Here at the summit is a big rickity contraption built (probably) in the 1940/50s with keep off signs ablazing, so ...
