The Mission Peak hike is a steep one. The main staging area is at about 400' elevation, and the peak is 2500'. So it's a 2100' climb with very few leveling-off areas.

Just before you ascend the final rocky crown, there is a scenic plateau where cows are grazing and an historic ranch house is now a park residence.
